Bob Berg joined Carter Financial Management, a full-service comprehensive financial planning firm, in 1988 after a 22-year career in executive financial management. Bob came to CFM from Wormald U.S., Incorporated, Dallas, Texas, where he was the corporate treasurer and financial director of the $200 million, multi-national organization. While at Wormald, in addition to his treasury duties, Bob was a trustee for the company's benefit programs, including its retirement plans (developing investment strategies and selecting money managers). Bob
was recently named by D Magazine as one of the “Best Financial
Planners” in the Dallas Metroplex. Bob is also listed in the
Registry of FPA Practitioners. Bob
was a recent participant in a new educational program sponsored by
Raymond James and Associates and earned the title "Investment Management
Consultant". In
addition to his planning practice, Bob has provided continuing education
workshops in the Dallas and Ft. Worth areas, for example, Asset
Allocation and Portfolio Management, The Basics of Financial Planning
and Small Business Planning. His practice specializes in
serving the planning needs of corporate executives, small business
owners, and individuals planning for or involved with retirement

is Past President and Chairman of the Board for the Dallas/Fort Worth
Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP),
the largest national association of financial planners in the country.
Additionally, Bob was a board member of the Dallas Chapter of The
Institute for Certified Financial Planners. He graduated from Northland
College with a degree in Business Administration. Bob earned
his CFP® designation in 1989. Active
in civic and church activities, Bob is a past board member of the
Children’s Oral Health Foundation of Dallas, has served as president
of a YMCA chapter, president of a Little League baseball association,
and trustee for his church board. He is a Past President of the North
Dallas/Park Cities Kiwanis Club, and a director of Kiwanis-Wesley
Dental Clinic, a non-profit organization providing free dental care

Tom McIntire joined Carter Financial Management in 1992. For the previous ten years he was a client of the firm – while working in Europe, Africa, Mexico, Central America and Asia in engineering and management positions for the oil services company, Schlumberger, where he last served as Manager of South China. While maintaining a general planning practice his attention to managing savings and cash flows is especially attractive to clients with volatile incomes and/or those desiring stable distributions from existing investments. He has lectured before his financial planning peers, taught in the MBA curriculum at the University of Dallas, and taught as an SMU Instructor to students in the Certificate Program in Financial Planning. Tom has also been quoted in Financial Planning Magazine, Registered Representative magazine, and The Dallas Morning News. In 2002, 2004, and 2006 the financial planning community voted him to be honored in the D Magazine list of “Best Financial Planners in Dallas.” In January 2000, the Financial Planning Association (FPA) was formed through the merger of the International Association for Financial Planning (IAFP) and the Institute of Certified Financial Planners (ICFP). Tom is a past president and chairman of the Dallas/Fort Worth chapters of both the IAFP and FPA. He is also a long-time active member of the ICFP, IAFP, FPA, Dallas Estate Planning Council, Dallas Society of Financial Analysts (DSFA), CFA Institute (formerly AIMR), and the Harvard Business School Club of Dallas. Tom earned an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BSEE, summa cum laude, from The University of Texas at Austin. He has also earned the professional designations of Accredited Investment Management Consultant (AIMC), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) – the most respected designation for professionals in the investment industry. Additionally, Tom has graded CFA candidate
exams for the past seven summers in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Patty Hammond currently serves Carter Financial Management as a Senior Financial Planner. She originally joined the firm in 1985 and recently was pleased to reestablish her practice with CFM. Clients benefit from her 24 years of financial experience in creative problem solving. She is especially adept at helping them draw on their values, establish their goals, and prioritize their objectives. She assists her clients with assessing; planning; implementing and monitoring their financial targets. Patty is a Summa Cum Laud graduate from the University of Tulsa in Math and Science Education and she earned her Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 1984. She has been an adjunct Professor at Brookhaven College teaching the CFP®curriculum to CFP®candidates for 13 semesters. In this position she was honored as an outstanding professor by Brookhaven College. She has been a featured speaker on various Financial Planning topics to many local organizations. Patty has served as President and Chairman of the Dallas/Fort Worth Society of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners (ICFP®). She also served as President of the Dallas Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning and on the National Ethics Committee of the International Association of Financial Planning. Patty lives in Richardson and is active in the community. Her activities include: Richardson Friends of the Library Board; Learning Disability Association; Various church activities; Youth Achievement Foundation mentor, and Senior Citizens of Greater Dallas volunteer. Tara L. Scottino, CFP®, is senior vice president of Carter Advisory Services, Inc. (CAS), the registered investment advisory firm affiliated with Carter Financial Management. Tara is responsible for the design and integration of each facet of our clients’ multi-disciplinary plans and is directly involved in pursuing the achievement of each client’s financial plan objectives. As Senior Vice President, Tara also oversees daily office operations while providing technical support for the planners of Carter Financial Management. Prior to joining CAS, Tara was Senior Vice President of Investments and Planning for a local wealth management firm whose core client base consisted of ultra high net worth individuals. Tara was responsible for financial planning (including advanced estate and tax planning) and portfolio management for those ultra high net worth individuals. Tara also managed team members, including workflow, team member recruitment, training and development. Tara also has extensive experience in designing portfolios and financial plans for established families as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch Private Client Group and specialized in high-net worth clients at Wells Fargo Private Client Group. Tara is consistently recognized as one of Dallas’ Best Financial Planners by D Magazine and has been invited to speak on several occasions. The Financial Planning Association (FPA) invited her to be a guest speaker at their national Symposium in 2006 and she was a guest panelist at FPA’s Dallas conference, Transitioning into the Financial Planning Profession. She was also a featured speaker at the Carrollton/Farmers Branch Independent School District, Expanding Your Horizons conference. Tara is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including the Financial Planning Association where she is a past board member of the local DFW chapter. Currently, she serves on the National Ethics Committee and is a member of the Boston 2008 Task Force. Tara is also a current member of the board of trustees for the Foundation for Financial Planning. She is past-president for NexGen, a national organization committed to advancing the careers of the next generation of financial planning professionals. Tara also serves on boards and committees of several local nonprofit organizations. She is past president of Captain Hope’s Kids, and is currently involved with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. In her spare time, Tara enjoys running, cycling and swimming, as well as any other outdoor activity. She has completed several marathons and triathlons and is currently training for Ironman Florida 2008. Tara also coaches for Dallas based Run On, helping others achieve their running goals. Tara holds a B.S. in Psychology from Texas A&M University, and is a Certified Financial Planner™ and Certified Senior AdvisorTM licensee, with more than 10 years’ experience in financial planning and banking.
Jonathan joined Carter Financial Management as a Financial Planner in May 2006. He was previously employed at Southwest Securities, an NYSE brokerage firm headquartered in Dallas, from 2001 – 2006. While there, Jonathan was a Financial Advisor and Assistant Branch Manager of a large Private Client Group office. Jonathan is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designee and holds his Series 3, 7, 9, 10, 55, 63, & 66 licenses as well as his Group One Life and Health Insurance license issued by the Texas Department of Insurance. Jonathan has received a Certificate in Financial Planning from Southern Methodist University. In addition, he successfully completed the Margin Regulations and Practices Exam from the New York Institute of Finance. Jonathan received his BA in Business Administration with a focus on Economics and Finance from Louisiana Tech University in 2000. At Carter Financial Management, Jonathan is a member of the Investment Committee and is active with the firm’s charitable interests. Jonathan is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and is an active member in the Dallas / Forth Worth chapter. Sue Spellman joined Carter Financial Management in June 2006. Sue brings to CFM many years of experience in financial planning, particularly in the area of portfolio management and asset allocation. Her practice includes attorneys, physicians, corporate executives, and their families. Over the years, as the trusted advisor of her clients, she has worked to insure that the changing goals and interests of the most vulnerable clients, particularly widows and divorcees, are addressed. She has been involved in the securities industry through numerous market cycles. Sue’s experience through the dramatic economic, technological, and global changes in the investment landscape has strengthened her ability to professionally guide her clients for the long term. Her career in the securities industry spans over 30 years. Prior to joining CFM, Sue was a Vice President in the Private Client Group of Southwest Securities, Inc., a large regional NYSE firm. She was the founder and registered principal of Spellman Capital Corporation, a small boutique NASD broker dealer formed in 1982. In 1971, she became the first female broker with Rotan, Mosle., Inc. in their Houston office, and later in their San Antonio office. Two years earlier she began her career as an assistant analyst in the research department of a NYSE regional firm. Sue received the Certified Financial Planner™ designation in 1984. She was a member of the ICFP and now the FPA Dallas chapter. She has been quoted in Scott Burns, a national financial columnist. She has spoken to women’s organizations seeking investment guidance and help. Sue is a graduate of Sophie Newcomb College, Tulane University. She also attended the College of Business Administration at the University of Texas at Austin. Sue is an active volunteer in the Dallas community. She is a Girl Scout leader, serving her daughter’s troop and the Service Unit 131. She volunteers at Ursuline Academy of Dallas and at the Ronald McDonald House. Certified Financial Planner™ Jayne Grimes advises Carter Financial Management clients in all areas of family financial issues, helping to provide successful lifetime wealth management and inter-generational planning. She is deeply committed to helping her clients understand and succeed in every aspect of their financial planning, and over the years has raised particular awareness to areas such as philanthropic planning and financial advocacy for women. Jayne began her career as a financial planner in 1986, practicing with local firms in many roles, including Branch Manager of her Broker/Dealer. She has trained financial professionals such as CPA’s and insurance providers in incorporating planning principles into their client advisory work. Her work as a charitable planning professional, involving strategies for both clients and local charities on creative and efficient gift planning, led to a role as Planned Giving Officer at Children’s Medical Center, where she served for seven years working with donors and foundations. Jayne is an Accredited Estate Planner and Registered Principal through Raymond James Financial Services, Inc, member FINRA/SIPC in Dallas. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Committee on Planned Giving (North Texas Chapter), the Board of Governors of the North Texas Estate Planning Council and the Planned Giving Council of Children’s Medical Center. She is an avid advocate of financial education, having taught courses at local community colleges, and served as adjunct faculty for the College for Financial Planning in Denver as an instructor in the Certified Financial Planner® program. Jayne has been a frequent speaker at professional, charitable and academic venues, including The University of North Texas, the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities, The Dallas Women’s Foundation, The National Council of Jewish Women, The Texas Baptist Development Officers Association and the Professional Fundraiser’s Association. Elected to the Allen ISD School Board in 2006, Jayne is also the former president of the Foundation for Allen Schools and has held many leadership roles at her church, Suncreek United Methodist.
